Giving Playbook

Every strong team keeps a few special plays ready. These are the ones that mean the most to us. While nothing more than your love is needed, here are a few ways to support if you’d like to step onto the court with us in spirit.

Play 1: The Assist

This play is especially close to Kara’s heart. Since 2018, her yearly initiative Purses With a Purpose has provided women in shelters with gently used or new purses filled with essentials, a small financial gift, and a handwritten note of encouragement. Each purse is more than just a bag — it’s a reminder that these women are seen, valued, and supported. Choosing this play helps us continue to spread dignity, hope, and love.

Highlights You Help Create

Here are some of the items we love to include in each purse to make it both practical and personal:
  • New or gently used purses
  • Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.)
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Handwritten notes of encouragement

How To Give

If you would like to contribute, items may be dropped off locally or mailed. Please contact Kara’s mom, Jewellyn Kubi (614-636-7528), for drop-off instructions or mailing details. Your generosity helps ensure every purse reaches a woman who deserves to feel valued and supported.

Play 2: Full-Court Support

This play is especially close to Eliecer’s heart. As many know, he is originally from Cuba, where daily life comes with significant challenges. Even basic needs like food, medicine, and household supplies are often difficult to find or afford. Despite these hardships, his family remains strong, loving, and deeply supportive of us.

Supporting this play is truly a team effort. Together, we can bridge the distance and help provide for his family in meaningful ways. Each contribution allows us to send resources that ease their daily struggles and remind them that they are not alone. Your generosity makes it possible for us to show love, dignity, and care across borders — and it means more to us than words can express.
